Wednesday, December 26, 2018 - Lunch at Summer Pavilion (Summer Pavilion, Ritz Carlton, Singapore): A very masculine Amoureuses, but pleasurable for what it is. The nose was very attractive, with a salty, savoury overtone of earth, meat and fragrant spices alongside deeper notes of dark berries and plums, with savoury notes of earth, meat and orange peel - all juicy and structured. A powerful and compelling mouthfeel, but a world away from the slinky, lacy, flowery stereotype Amoureuses. It had a good depth, breadth and power to it, leading into a long, compelling finish with earth, fruit and spice, and just that hint of florals at the very end, all gripped with a chew of fine tannins. Lovely, if atypical stuff.
