Friday, April 3, 2015 - Popped this with Dim Sum lunch at Royal China (Raffles Hotel) on Good Friday. Distinct old leather, coupled with tobacco, earth, ash, dried leaves, toasted oak, a bit of red cherries, and a hint of vanilla on the nose - mostly secondary and tertiary notes. Mature Bordeaux nose. On the palate, the tannins were smooth like drinking melted jello, showing medium acidity, dried fruits, fading red dusty cherries, and licorice, and ending off with a bittersweet finish. The old leather got more pronounced with further aeration. This wine is clearly past its prime as the fruits are lacking, but it was an enjoyable drink nonetheless.
