Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - Color is rusty with a hint of brown, and clear edges. Decanted about 1 hr (mild sediment), now showing a lovely smell of leather and wood with a hint of some unknown flower. Not much acidity, and surprisingly tannins are still present, but pleasing. Medium body of leather, prominent cranberries. Medium finish, lasting maybe 20-30 seconds.
I give this 88-90 points in a unique way. It's not often you can buy a wine with this kind of age and class for $25. If you take the age factor into account this wine probably gets a few more points.
