100 Points

Saturday, March 2, 2013 - Wow... best whisky I have tasted in my entire life

The "gang" got together and brought all their favourites, including Glenmorangie, Lagavulin 12 yr, Glenlivet 18 yr and Bunnahabhain 25 yr. This thing blew them all away (I will say the Bunnahabhain was terrific tho - I'd definitely give it a solid second.

Unbelievably rich, exotic, dynamic, on both the nose and palate - and the finish is wonderful, amazing, and everlasting. Even tho it is bottled at cask strength (104), you cannot discern the alcohol, it is totally integrated.

I ran out to find another bottle immediately after our tasting session - I never want to run out of this!

5/7/2013 9:02:00 AM - Your write up inspired me to call my local. What do you know, they've got one in stock. Too bad $2,000.00 is out of my price range, this sounds fantastic. (considering special ordering the Bunnahabhain 25 tho, so thanks for that endorsement)

5/7/2013 10:23:00 AM - No probs at all - trust me it was a pleasure, lol. At one point, there were a few bottles of this being sold at under $900 - I got lucky - yes, $2,000 is a rather big hit. It's definitely a one-off for the collection.

5/11/2013 3:11:00 AM - I'm glad you enjoy a tipple of 'Scottish wine'. However, I feel I must correct you on a point of detail.
The Scottish spirit contains no "e"; the actual spelling is "whisky". It is the Irish product (whiskey) that contains an "e". Produce of other countries are merely imitations.
The only thing I can recommend is to keep drinking the stuff....practice makes perfect!
Incidentally, you should never call anything from Scotland "Scotch" - that moniker is preserved solely for the aforementioned drink. Items, other than the spirit, which originate in Scotland are called "Scots", or "Scottish" - never "Scotch".
Never let it be said that the Scots are mean....one has just given you a free lesson - I hope you enjoyed it!
