1989 Château Cos d'Estournel

Sunday, July 30, 2023 - I definitely preferred this in its middle age, and unlike most of the top notch left bankers from the year, this has hit its peak. It is becoming more attractive as tertiary notes bed in, but it is not one the heavyweights from the vintage. Tell notes of cedar and blackcurrant define the wine, but lost fruit has left it a little exposed to tannin. Probably there is not a lot of upside in leaving this to develop.

7/30/2023 1:45:00 PM - Thanks for your great note David, much appreciated. It's been awhile since I opened a bottle of this and have one left hiding somewhere in the cellar. Sounds like I should put out an APB on that and enjoy sooner than later.
