Sunday, May 29, 2011 - From 375. Mature disc. Beautiful nose, excellent pencil lead, blackberries and plums, a nice oak component mingled with clay and just a hint of horse. Splendid. The nose is very heady, very lush. With air, lavender. Velvety on the palate, plenty of tannin. Good balance and a fine finish. Less elegance than the '97 (which I find aromatically gorgeous) but less chunky than the '85. Great wine!
Waiting on this will do it a disservice. I don't think that the tertiary components are going to get more interesting as there's just a hint of the fall leaf smell of Bordeaux going downhill on the finish and the fruit is so beautiful now. Drink up!
