Saturday, January 31, 2009 - After raiding a friend's cellar, this was the oldest Bordeaux he had that was ready to open. Cork was wet and colored nearly all the way through. Very deep garnet color with faint amber edges. Obviously older than many of the other wines that evening. A nice nose of leather, cedar and smoke. Initial taste had some vegetal qualities but after sitting for another hour it became smoother with tastes of tobacco, black fruits and burnt toast. Taste improved even more the next day. This wine shows best if decanted for a couple hours. What a great finish to a flight of big reds. Drink now or continue to hold.
