Monday, April 12, 2021 - My first Rougeard, and wasn't sure what to expect - esp. given the difficult vintage, but this blew me away!
Wonderfully balanced, aromatic, silky mouth feel & not showing anything of the torrid vintage, as e.g. the v.good but obviously very ripe Druet Le Grand Mont does.
Made me think of a very fine mature Margaux. I would wager that its drinking at peak, but def. no hurry. If anyone in the UK has some to sell, I would happily pay the £120 I paid for this again.
Opened a Baudry Clos Guillot 2010 (A wine I seem to rate higher than anyone else here) afterwards and it seemed obvious, even boring by comparison.
