Saturday, May 27, 2017 - Many of us were remarking that we had never had an SQN before, so this one was brought out. And oh mama! This wine had a dense fruit core - black and blue fruits on the nose. The nose, although very fruit dense, wasn't as powerful as I thought it was going to be given the entry, which was SUPER complex, SUPER dense. Black and blue fruits, minty, peppery. Knife and fork kind of wine. The finish was black pepper and toasted oak. The wine came back after 30 seconds on the finish to smack you across the face. NICE! This wine was probably the first or second out of the group of 15 or so that we enjoyed. 96 by my book. This wine continued to develop as it sat open for the night. Dark, complex, dense, peppery, powerful, youthful.
