Friday, April 29, 2016 - Opaque. Nose: moderately strong but brooding nose. Cedar, Douglas Fir. Raspberries, cranberries and cherries. Slight tobacco. Iodine and sea water. Thyme. Palate: Medium bodied, high acidity. Moderate sweetness. Well integrated chewy tannin (not overwhelming after a 2 hour decant). Expertly balanced structure. Iodine and saline. Blackberries, cherries and dark plums. Touch of espresso and cocoa. Blood orange. Rose water, black pepper. Finish: everything stays strong as a nice sweet smokiness emerges. Overall a fantastic bottle from a less than stellar vintage. This is exactly what I hope for when I open a cabernet sauvignon from Washington. Drinking well now, this has another solid 2 years of prime drinking. Really benefits from a 2 hour decant right now.
