Saturday, January 23, 2021 - We have been familiar with this small producer from Oger for several years, but we didn’t have the chance to try it until now (we don't know exactly why), and it was a lovely surprise, a good example of the terroir of Oger; elegant and spicy, not as full and captivating as Avize, nor as clean and mineral as Le Mesnil. Pleasant chalky feeling with sea salt, wet stones and white flowers with a very present orange blossom note, and a somehow ‘herbal’ touch; ripe lemons, limes, kaffir limes, dragon fruit; lemon curd, some cookies and freshly baked bread, a hint of brioche (‘roscón de reyes'); some wax, with balsamic notes on the finish.
Juicy texture with delicate bubbles; the acidity was quite high (we guess no-malo) and youthful, so we think this could improve and be aged further for several more years. A positive and pleasant surprise; we were a little skeptical and expected a somehow ‘less serious’ wine, but we found ourselves with a truly well-produced wine. Hopefully we can taste more of this producer’s cuvées soon.
