Thursday, January 24, 2008 - Out of a half bottle. Medium light ruby, transparent. Blackberry and what I think people describe as "iron" give way to earth, incense, and clove. Medium weight with tart acidity at first and quite a bit of tannin, but the acid calms down, and the palate finishes lean but supported by enough fruit to support the underlying structure. A terroir-oriented wine that may not achieve Grand Cru quality, but stylish, very Gevrey, and it avoids the burliness of many '95s.
