Sunday, July 31, 2016 - Châteauneuf-du-Pape tasting at home. Medium ruby/garnet color. Aromatically a little closed at this young stage, but showing first notes of pure dark fruit, kirsch, white pepper, blackberries, crushed flowers and some garrigue too. It's full-bodied and dense, but extremely polished and elegant, with medium-high acidity and medium-high tannin that is incredibly silky. Fantastic length. While aromatically still a little reticent, what impressed me the most is the texture of pure silk. Fascinating to drink this next to Pégau Reservée. That one was more rustic, animalic; this is more elegant, with lots of finesse. Both have equally great quality. (95-96+)
