Tuesday, April 9, 2024 - Second time tasted. This bottle is dark garnet and still completely opaque. Very Northern Rhône style, with sweet smoky roasted meat and bacon aromas, complex and pronounced; black cherries and plums also in the nose. The flavors match the aromas; full-bodied but extremely round, balanced and smooth, nice acidity, very little tannin, and a very long and lingering aftertaste with just a slightly hot component. The finish keeps going on. The wine put on weight and complexity the second evening, one reason we like to taste many wines over two evenings. Cerise is one of our favorite Cayuse syrahs for its elegance and complexity, though not as big as several others, such as Armada. Perfect now, would drink over next 1-2 years.
