92 Points

Saturday, March 1, 2014 - A distinctive wine, particularly for the price. Consumed over three days. Captivating nose of north Rhône pepper, lavender, sage, thyme, juniper, bacon fat, tar, dark chocolate, espresso, evergreen, red meats, and strangely...honeysuckle. All the same elements on the palate. Great acidity and very pleasant grip. It could easily pass for a Saint-Joseph, possibly a quality Cornas, with perhaps the exception of a lack of mineral depth. Amazing quality for the price that gives hope for Australian Shiraz and not to mention RP scores. Very difficult to put down; it merits 92 points all day, possibly 93.
