Friday, February 7, 2020 - The cork broke halfway out but all came out fine. The screen caught a little cork bits and all was good. Very light color almost like a Rosé. It is a half bottle so I had expected it to be more mature. Much lighter than the full bottles opened a couple of years ago. Warm, balanced acid and alcohol. Complex but still fruity. Despite being lighter, the flavor profile isn’t like a tawny that’s some very mature port have tended to taste. Bright but evolved fruit and complex. It isn’t for someone looking for a deep wine. Remember this is a half bottle. Your 750ml bottles will probably be deeper, darker and less evolved. This half bottle is the most evolved 1977 I have tasted.
