Sunday, August 23, 2015 - Fascinating & surprising. Darker colored than most Pinot, but with high toned bright fruit. Artistic Pinot Noir. The acidic balance is memorable here, but as those tannins emerge this really shows some power. Medium bodied & fresh with some tension on the palate. Some angularity which will mellow with bottle age & some air. This bottle disappeared quickly at dinner, so we didn't get to see it blossom to full bloom. The spicy layers show through the mid palate & play off that acid and my salmon brilliantly. That is the beauty of this wine, the finesse with the food, the subtle working of its own complexity. Rhys wines stop me in my meal and my thoughts. Excellent as always.
