Friday, April 19, 2024 - Nice high fill and great color. This pours light ruby in the glass with medium bricking. The nose is just lovely, opening over the course of an hour to show dried cherry, wet hay, nori, animal fur, grilled meat, cigar ash, fresh mushroom, a whisp of caramel, pomegranite and a kiss of toasted hazelnut. The palate enters on juicy cherry with medium minus tannin and medium acid. The finish is long showing nori, grilled meat, hazelnut, and cherry. All in all this blew past my expectations and was just a stunning showing. Still remarkably youthful from this pristine bottle, displaying the penchant of 1993s to show open and complex but young. I tasted others around the table on this blind and guesses were 2005, 2007, and 2010. A testiment to how well this held up.
