Saturday, March 2, 2019 - Wow - even in this "lesser" vintage, the majestical Bonnes Mares showed it true power.

First off, the nose had to settle. Some noted of VA was present and ofc., I was concerned. However, letting it breath for 30 air the VA evaporated and fruit came back to life giving us those perfectly big juicy summer red strawberries, fat plummy cherries. The oak was big and bald and the Autumn notes of dry leaves and mustiness was all there. Big wine.

the palate showed up as well. More fat and meat was present than usual. The tannins had still some grip, eventhough not as tight, but giving the wine that needed structure. THis was a wonderful wine.

Drink now or hold for 2 years. This is to be fully critical past its peak, however still really enjoyful!
