Monday, August 25, 2014 - Very pretty nose: fresh, focused note of lychee, peach, lemon, white flowers. Body is medium-full, mouthfeel rounded, with a creamy texture and soft acids. A hint of sweetness left over, or maybe that’s from the alcohol. Overall, definitely a high quality wine, though perhaps not exactly to my style because I prefer more crisp whites (light body, high acid). It is high in alcohol (14.5%), but the alcohol does not come through in the aroma, only in the body and finish of the wine.

Friulano is a white grape pretty much only grown in Friuli and surrounding areas. It is related to Sauvignon Blanc, with which it shares certain characteristics, like higher acidity and that strange cat-pee quality, though to a lesser degree.
