Friday, June 16, 2017 - {cork, 12.5%} Spotless cork. Aged nose; spice, tobacco, cherry plum, chocolate. Nicely franc-like. Although, maybe a touch musty and mushroomy? The palate is driven by acid rather than tannin, which is very low-key and transitory. Instead, although not actually volatile, there's a distinct prickliness to the texture here, along with gentle red fruit flavours and a spicy, exotic note. It's no more than medium-bodied, and has a short/medium, slightly hollow finish. Auction 'provenance', so indifferent storage may be a factor here. Ok, but further cellaring unnecessary on this tasting.
