Monday, January 23, 2023 - Overall: quality wine showing very well at this age, this wine grew in the glass and decanter over three hours and really is something special when you consider the price.

Color: reddish purple, showing some age but not really bricking in any significant way. Still very dark and opaque.

Nose: initially very closed and decanting was necessary. Over the next three hours the nose went from very closed with some mushroomy notes, to a mix of fruity and green pepper, to finally dark fruit like blackberries underpinned with leather, earth, green herbs, and what I would describe as “forest floor” and cigar box/tobacco notes.

Palate: very integrated, balanced wine that may be something of an “aha” moment for me as far as aged Bordeaux goes. Dark fruit is present, but mixed in with more savory notes like leather. Acid is in balance, tannins are soft and pleasant.

Finish: drying, acid is refreshing, makes me really want to go back for another sip and this wine is dissappearing faster than I want it to
