92 Points

Tuesday, April 30, 2019 - Cool, expressive nose with distinct notes of herbs, green peppercorns and brassica. Leafy, minty, swiss chard attack with a lovely sweeter finish. Shows a nice core of plummy fruit. Medium bodied with nice acids for an 03. Svelte and smooth by Sociando’s standards with a tangy citric finish. A touch of wood tannin still, but hard to see the new oak here despite the high amount employed. Definitely plusher than most vintages here, eschewing the austerity that this wine often shows. I really dig this, but not everyone’s cuppa to be sure. Summary: sweeter, richer and softer than many vintages of Sociando, but still showing that distinct greenery. Just past early maturity and drinking great, but with time to spare. 92-93+ pts.
