Sunday, September 29, 2019 - An impressive wine; the heat of 2003 was more than many could cope with, but this is an exemplar of adaptation to the conditions. Very dark colour still, classic Bordeaux nose of graphite, leather, plum and cedar. Wonderful balance now on the palate; rich fruit, touch of sweetness but the firm backbone characteristic of this Chateau is there. Finish is not quite as convincing as I would have hoped for, but overall a very satisfying bottle.
Needs strongly flavoured food at this stage and there is scope for further development: it drinks well now after a short aeration, but should hold well for another 5-7 years.
