Saturday, June 6, 2020 - BBQ early June 2020: decanted for approx. 1 hour; dark rubin red color; bouquet of cassis, cherry, coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla; balanced, slightly acidic palate accompained with a decent adstringency and a tannic backbone; medium/full body. 91-92/100.

Left a glass of wine in the closed bottle at room temperature overnight. Tasted approx. 18 h after bottle opening: the bouquet stayed largely intact while the wine got much smoother on the palate, the acid significantly disappeared and the tannins melted away.

While already good approchable the development of the 2003 Sociando-Mallet is not finished yet. However, it's not easy to predict that longer cellaring will improve the current excellent quality level significantly.
