Friday, March 5, 2021 - #6756. The King in the North! As I've remarked repeatedly, this is (one of) the best younger Chaves for drinking right now. The nose is quintessential Chave, a magical blend of polish and rusticity. There are aromas of cherry, olive, and smoke. The palate is on the red side of the spectrum, with a sweetness that evokes primary fruit, although there are plenty of the meaty, briny secondary flavours too. Alas, this bottle doesn't have the aromatic explosiveness of other bottles that I've had, but it is nevertheless a truly delicious bottle of syrah.
