Thursday, June 23, 2022 - Chave: "In the name of science" (Chicago, IL): I've been very bullish on this particular wine in the past, but today, I don't think it performed as well as some of the bottles I opened before. This does have a little more of the smoked meat/briney character of syrah, but it just felt a little simplistic. A slight animale note detracted from an otherwise very clean wine. The texture is consistent with my other experiences -- it's a silky smooth, resolved wine that is really nice for drinking now.
