Thursday, July 23, 2009 - A really good, ripe, very concentrated yet very smooth great Aussie shiraz enjoyed earlier this month at the monthly Hickory Wine Club wine tasting as part of a flight of higher end Australian shirazs. I liked this one better then the '02 in the blinded tasting. Aerated in the glass for about two hours prior to consumption. Dark purple, big yet very smooth and in a great drinking window right now. Slightly sweet nose with cedar, eucalyptus and spice along with black stone fruit. Primary flavors included dark fruit, black currant, some mocha and caramel as well as tar and black pepper on the finish. Very good, definitely recommend this wine, not an unreasonable QPR at this price range.
