Wednesday, October 6, 2004 - An expressive nose of mint, blueberry pie, roasted blackberry, road tar, and vanilla wafts from the glass. On the palate this is silky and lush with some tannin hiding beneath a huge wall of ripe, black fruit. Unlike this 2002's, this is already pretty well defined and shows both savory and sweet flavors with a peppery mid-palate and a saline quality. The MP 9 has consistently been my favorite MP, and this 2003 is a nice reminder of that. Lighter in weight and more restrained than the searing-hot 2002's, this is already enjoyable with a steak and a long evening. Well done!
