Saturday, February 21, 2015 - Premium champagne - two houses, two vintages (Gothenburg): This also shows a lot of development over the evening. Initially has some mature cheese (not nearly as much as the 1996), smoke, vanilla and yeast. After some time develops almost burgundian notes of butter, gunpowder, yellow fruit, winter apple, whipped cream and toast. Also refreshing citrus - lime, grape, lemon and orange. On the palate lively, young mousse and good acid wich balances the very rich, creamy house style. Overall fairly well balanced actually, not as extrem as the 1996 RD. Good length to the creamy, smoky finish.

This comes across as a more "normal" champagne, compared to the 1996, but still very rich in style.
