Wednesday, October 12, 2022 - Definitely recommend for what it is - a good QPR and now fully mature and well balanced modern style barolo. Drink or hold - if drunk now recommend aeration in bottle for 2-3 hours or a 60-90 minute decant and do not expect significant further upside with further cellaring but on the other hand under proper cellaring circumstances this has an easy decade+ to go. Dark reddish purple, peripheral bricking starting to occur, medium bodied, spicy and fruit forward but integrating nicely with good balance, oak & tannins still present but controlled and lovely medium length aftertaste. Nose bright and fruit forward with dark stone fruit, black pepper and licorice. Flavor profile of dark stone fruit, oak and blueberry up front with more graphite, coffee and black olive on the finish. Not as dark, complex and full bodied as the best of the more traditional barolos, a lighter more approachable style but a very nice wine none the less.
