Wednesday, August 24, 2016 - Inky color. The nose throws off a small amount of heat. Dark fruit, cocoa. The wine is young and a little tight, but still drinks very nicely. Dark fruit, a little oak, cocoa, plum. There's a lot going on with this baby. Glad I have more.

8/26/2016 11:33:00 AM - Without a doubt. I have a few bottles of the 2006, but popped this one on the advice of a friend. I am going to try the 06 in the next few days to compare.

8/28/2016 12:45:00 PM - Just read your note on the 2006. Very interesting how you describe the overall experience as "soft." I always worry that letting a wine fully resolve over time in bottle also sacrifices intensity and depth. Those two varying levels of tannins versus fruit are such moving targets at times. I suppose one has to just chalk them up as different wines (even if vintage is the only main factor - which of course we know can be a huge factor indeed).
Thanks for the great note. Fascinating info. We shall see how 2012 ages. I'm cautiously optimistic, but I don't think I'm going to hold on to it for another decade to find out...maybe just another year. Thanks again!
