89 Points

Saturday, October 30, 2021 - Perfect bottle with bottom neck fill and a clean cork with only the bottom third soaked. Pnp. Transparent slightly matt garnet with almost no browning. Initially some medicinal notes, later more sous bois and some brett, good acidity but also the usual sweetness of a very old wine. Medium (-) tannins are still providing good grip. Just a touch oxidative on the finish.
This is my third 75 Brunello in the last few years, and once again I am impressed that just like the other two this is showing less oxidative than most Brunellos all the way from the 80s to the early 2000s taste when you open them today. The wine making must have changed at most producers in the late 70s / early 80s to meet consumers' preference for earlier accessible wines.
Having said that, unlike the 75 Lisini Riserva and the 75 Poggio alle Mura, at least this very well kept bottle of the Nardi Riserva seems to be at the very end of its journey. Will not wait too long with my next bottle.
