89 Points

Thursday, January 21, 2010 - 88-90. Though very well made, i find this slightly disappointing. A bit tight at first, better with air. still a bit one dimensional. Nice dark red fruits, a bit on the sweet side with just enough savoury notes and hint of funk to keep it interesting. not overly complex, not a ton of acidity, not that sophisticated. That said, I don't love Aussie shiraz, so others who like this style may like this better. For me, for a well made wine that is slightly hedonistic, this is pretty boring. I don't see this getting better with age, more likely worse like the 1998 which drank better young(if you like more complexity and savoury notes and less sugar caney sweet fruit). These Aussies just don't age well unless you like hedonism, low acid, and slight flab. Not my favorite style.
