Saturday, February 25, 2023 - Stawberry rhubarb with a sexy nuanced soil component. It’s more open and rounded than you’d expect, consistent with a tip I got from a friend who opened this recently. Lovely mix of openness and a suggestion of appropriate firmness too. The acid is a good medium plus, getting along well with the fruit well but also asserting itself in a subtle way. Tannins very tame, speaking in very low register bass notes, but giving good sustain on the finish. Great example of a successful 2013. The harmony, freshness and firmness suggest this will drink well through the decade, maybe even better in five years, but it shows its stuff today if given a few hours of air and not consumed in a rush.
