Monday, November 25, 2019 - This is the last of my 500ml futures bottles, but the 750s are still sleeping. Overall this is quite drinkable now, though it’s only showing a little bit of development. Rich cherry fruit allows a small amount of leafy complexity to come through. Some menthol joins the party on the finish, where the structure comes into play. Despite the finishing tannins, it’s very pleasurable to drink now, even if it is still early for full development.

This bottling is a good example of the 2012 forward Rhys style. It is not so aggressively stemmy, and that makes it friendlier sooner. There is still plenty of material and structure for development, but the wine is very good now.
