Friday, September 9, 2016 - Tasted at the winery...medium to dark, slightly translucent garnet/crimson. Decanted about 2 hours before tasting. On the nose I get vanilla, black and blue fruit, flint, mint and eucalyptus. Great elegance on the palate. a Big wine for Spottswoode with plenty of fine grained tannin, blackberry, black plum, pencil lead, some smoke/charcoal, tobacco and some chocolate and menthol on the finish. Very layered and complex. Pure and impeccably balanced. This is one time I agree with Parker....a nearly flawless wine with great breeding and finesse as well as power that will last a very long time.
