Wednesday, November 3, 2021 - What I love about Spottswoode is its consistently linear evolution. I always enjoy the first decade when the Estate Cabernet is still youthful and primary as you would expect in a new world wine, but still classically balanced, and not over-the-top opulent as some modern wines. But the best Spottswoode vintages evolve (and improve, imo) into the second and third decades to show secondary characteristics that are beautifully nuanced. This 2013 is still in its youthful phase but delicious, and after some air, give hints that it will turn into a beauty in the next decade. This is going to be a treat to follow.
