Sunday, June 18, 2017 - Classic Margaux nose of raspberry and mineral notes, but perhaps slightly soft and not as bright. Prior bottle was almost three years ago (July 2014) and this bottle showed a bit better. Full bodied (13% ABV), but more balanced than previously, after being open about two and a half hours ahead of time. Soft and balanced red cherry and raspberry upfront with enough brightness to be interesting, but with enough depth to allow it to feel open and expressive. Mid-body has that wonderfully silky elegance to it that allows the wine to show off fruit and structure to the best effect. Clean transition to the finish where it shows earth notes, vanilla, integrated spices and graphite to go with fine grained tannins. Fells like this wine could continue to improve slightly over the next few years and show well for a few more beyond that.
