2012 Lagier Meredith Syrah

Friday, December 1, 2023 - This remains an incredibly young wine. The structure of L-M Syrah make them wines for the ages. Unlike my last bottle of this wine, I made certain to decant it. The sheen on this wine looks like lacquer. It’s stunningly beautiful in the glass. Loads of brinded black olives, cassis, blackberry, and rosemary on the attack. It all carries through to the long finish with iodine chiming in. Not as tight on the palate, but with huge upside potential on the mouthfeel as the wine ages. The tannins remain angular but softening. Chunks of sediment. 14.5% alc. With blue and truffle cheeses, truffled salumi, and crusty bread. 12.01.23. Highly Recommended.
