95 Points

Thursday, January 7, 2010 - Crimson with minimal signs of aging. Enticing humid pinot aromas grip the senses with a profusion of cherry, raspberry and cola. Spicy pepper and brown sugar twangs the aromatic alcohol note as well. On the palate this has indeed evolved since release and my last tasting event. The exuberance of fruit has mellowed a bit, yet world class pinot structure abounds still. There's masses of vivid creamy cherry and raspberry, with barrel program influences of toasted cinnamon on a long finish. No detracting heat IMO, this has a long life ahead and no need to rush and guzzle them all down. I actually think some additional mature nuances will continue to reveal themselves. Beauty in a glass personified. Day two under vac-u-vin shows palate transformation into the plummy, molasses and additional turbinado secondaries.
