Monday, August 29, 2022 - A dark and brooding purple, this wine shows you what you are going to get before passing your lips. Full of pepper, rich plum and licorice, the red fruit is well complemented by a subtle splash of oak. The acidity is in balance with the tannins but one cant help but wonder if the finish could possibly last a little longer given the heavy front end? The pepper gives way slightly sooner than I would have hoped but all in all, a well structured offering from penfolds. Decanted for an hour before approaching.
