The mature cassis fruit still has good freshness, supported by lots of campfire smoke and meat, with hints of olives and flowers, there's maybe a little brett in there but not enough to detract. Still quite concentrated with a beautiful silky texture, this is at a lovely state of maturity, where any tension between the fruit and structure has fully resolved and integrated but the wine hasn't started to get short/tart or dry out. This is miles better than several bottles from more heralded older vintages of Chave I tasted in a big vertical last year.
