88 Points

Wednesday, December 31, 2014 - A generous gift from the friend of a friend. The nose is heavy with caramel and some dill in the background. On the palate, there's nice fruit but also a bitter note on the midpalate that builds on the finish. I wanted to like this more, but the oak treatment (20 months, according to the label) is just too heavy handed. I hope Aaron Pott takes a more balanced approach to this estate.

After 6 hrs in the decanter, the last two glasses are showing a little better, as the bitter note (while still present) has receded a bit. I'm bumping the score a point, as a result.
