97 Points

Friday, August 3, 2018 - Calistoga Inn Restaurant & Brewery - Aubert, Shafer, Bevan, Sea Smoke, Togni, and more... (Calistoga): From Magnum. A phenomenal showing this time around. After about two hours of air and some vigorous swirling in the decanter, this absolutely gorgeous wine kicked-out all sorts of seductive and concentrated flavors.

A yellow citrus core gushing with honey lemon and olive oil notes; fresh vanilla bean, lemon curd, creme brûlée, and subtle travertine rounded out the profile. Less of a mineral driven animal. A vibrant “yellow” wine if there ever was one. Perfectly balanced after a couple hours of decanted air, with an intensity I usually don’t affiliate with Lauren. (Magnum effect?)

Ideally hold for another year, give it some vigorous swirling and decant for a bit. 96-97 points. Gorgeous. One of my top wines of the night (of the 55+ sampled).
