Thursday, July 23, 2020 - In my continued exploration of forgotten treasures that I am uncovering as we catalog items from the corners of the cellar, I bring you the 2013 Robert Mondavi PNX Pinot Noir.
While the boldness of the 2103 PNX has softened with age, it is still a nice Pinot worthy of your consumption. The tannins have mellowed and the fruitiness has receded a bit, but there is still some complexity to enjoy.
The palate is mutedly fruity (is that a proper wine tasting term?) with a balanced complexity. While not as elegant as 4 years ago it still offers a nice balance of fruit and some minerality. I detect notes of blackberry, plum, and a bit of smoke - but that last bit may be from the apricot crisp my wife just burnt in the oven.
So pop it it open and enjoy.
