Friday, July 31, 2015 - Nice fragrant but not overpowering nose. On the palate the first thing you notice is the incredibly pure, silky texture. It's so smooth, you don't at first notice anything else. Thereafter, it's like a medley of flavours without any one particularly dominating. Hints of red and black fruits, tar, smoke, coffee and burnt chocolate. No hard edges at all. Feels like it is fully mature and yet would guess it will stay at this plateau for at least five years. This is not a cheap wine (I bought it en primeur at a fraction of today's price) but it gives a relatively affordable insight into the Grand Vin. Glad to have ten bottles left!
