Mature Chateauneuf nose of dried cherry fruit, pine needles, garrigue, licorice and smoke. The fruit is still in the forefront. It is very sweet and Grenachy. The tannins are resolved. There are wonderful flavors of forest floor and mushrooms mixed in with the dried cherry fruit. There is good complexity here and the wine is not heavy or heady. Alcohol: 13.5% as per the label. From the days when Chateauneuf was more about refinement. Great companion with the quail. At La Table du Comtat in Seguret - a great spot for dinner in the Southern Rhone.
