94 Points

Sunday, July 23, 2023 - PnP. ABV 13%. After the knee bending ‘04 vintage recently, I am really curious about other vintages of Cote Brune. The first sniff is so floral, one can easily mistaken this for Burgundy. As it sits in the glass after aggressive swirling, more Syrah related notes emerge, some greenness appears too. On the first sip, comparatively more lean and less silky vs ‘04. Fine grained tannins with firm mid-palate, still too young but approachable. Good wine but not really showing the pedigree of this plot, maybe just too young. Nowhere nears the brilliant ‘04 vintage.
