91 Points

Thursday, April 28, 2022 - Had at the Charlotte Wine & Food fundraiser at the Customshop restaurant in Charlotte. The "baby Petrus". 90-91 right now but with proper maturation and handling this has all the makings to be a 95+ point wine. Very tight, tannic, too young, very intense and fruit forward - still needs at least 3-5 years and will cellar well for 1-2 decades after that with ongoing evolution. If drunk now ideally needs a long decant of at least 2-3 hours. Inky black, no bricking, powerful fruit and tannic core with some complexity already evident and a very long lingering aftertaste. Nose tight and intense with dark fruit, red cherry and a floral note of lilac. Flavors of oak, dark stone fruit and strawberry up front with coffee, raspberry, smokey tobacco and a greener more vegetal note on the end. Definitely hold not drink.
